 - Who Are We? -

We are a group of ladies who meet together in the Frogston Hall at Fairmilehead Parish Church on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays from September through to May inclusive. Our meetings start at 7.45pm and generally end around 9.30pm. All ladies living in the parish are very welcome to join us - see information below.

 - What Do We Do? -

Our main purpose is to meet together socially in a relaxed and informal atmospheres but with two specific beneficial purposes in mind. The first is to support charities through our Charity lunch usually held on
a Sunday in November
. The second is to improve our knowledge and awareness of selected topics through visiting speakers followed by questions.

This year’s charities are the Redhall Walled Garden and 500 Miles. The Redhall Walled Garden is a service provided by the Scottish Association for Mental Health. It is offered to people recovering from mental health problems and provides voluntary work placements and training in the fields of horticulture, conservation, IT, administration and mental health awareness. The aims are to promote a safe environment where individuals can learn to deal with the challenges of recovering from enduring mental health problems by encouraging lifestyles which are positive and sustainable, health orientated and free from destructive dependency. For more information email redhall@samhservices.org.uk

The second is a Scottish charity 500 Miles set up in 2008 by Olivia Giles. he name of comes from the Proclaimers’ famous lyric “I would walk 500 miles” because 500 Miles aims to get disabled people in Malawi and Zambia up and walking by the delivery and development of prosthetic and orthotic services and the delivery of surgical services (orthopaedic and reconstructive) which promote mobility. As a quadruple amputee herself, Olivia knows just how important independent mobility is for quality of life.  Further information is available at www.500miles.co.uk

 - How Do I Join? -

All ladies living in the parish are very welcome to join us at any point during our year and you don't have to be a member of the church. If you'd like to meet someone from the Forum before attending your first meeting just let Johan our Secretary know. It can be a little daunting to attend a large well established gathering for the first time but once the ice is broken you'll be amongst like minded friends - we have about sixty members. The cost is £12 for the session or £2.50 per meeting.

For further information please contact our Secretary Johan MacKenzie by e-mail. Our President is Sarah Wilson..

Visit our "Find Us" page for travel, parking and hall location details.

In January 2010 the Forum celebrated its 40th Birthday with a party to which all the past presidents were invited. About 80 people came along and enjoyed reminiscing with old friends and our special 40th birthday cake.
